Dodgy or genuine?

[Jan] Or Happy New Year for those with a lesser grasp of German.
[Feb] I'll only be at the Druids briefly as we need to try and sort a new venue for [info]club_octaine, so no games tonight.
[Mar] Not that big, actually.
[Apr] Was the first there so chatted to [info]surje and [info]casilda about the US and other things.
[May] Despite it being a Saturday afternoon on a Bank Holiday weekend, the Tesco petrol station wasn't busy and neither were the motorways.
[Jun] An hour in photos.
[Jul] Just a few quick test shots I took today:
[Aug] What kind of idiot underlines links in a website?
[Sep] Remember me complaining about their (lack of) service?
[Oct] Rock School on Friday was pretty cool, although I find nobody at that school ever having heard about KISS rather unbelievable.
[Nov] Any tips for late lunch (after 2) near Leicester Square?
[Dec] Some of you might remember the Christmas themed photos I took of [info]cryx a while ago.

[Music] Thief!
7 Dec 2005 11:38 amJust listening to the stream of the new KWS album on the website and "Hey, What do You Say" is so blatantly ripped off Freebird, especially the solo at the end, it's untrue.
Actually not too impressed with it, rather standard (Southern) rock and not what you'd expect from SRV's erstwhile protége.

Grrr, ticket prices
6 Dec 2005 01:26 pmThere are two gigs I'm considering in Cambridge in January:
Richard Thompson and Nick Cave, both at the Corn Exchange.
I'm definitely going to see the former, I think but the latter I have to think about really hard. I'm not a big fan (only own a best of album) but I appreciate his music and I've heard good things about his live act.
Here comes the deciding factor: A ticket for RT is 17.50 and for NC it's 35! At the same venue! They're both quite low key in terms of equipmen/tech so the actual running costs of the two gigs can't be much different (RT is solo and NC will have a small band but still).

Utterly brilliant

Moosing around
5 Dec 2005 03:15 pmThe LJ tag flooding has worked, "moose" is on the top of the movers&shakers list. :o)
1. My username is karohemd because it means "checked shirt" in German. (anyone who knows me outside goth clubs will know why)
2. My journal is titled Welcome to my World because I couldn't think of anything else and I talk about my world.
3. My subtitle is A German in Cambridge because I am.
4. My friends page is called I know weird people because you all are. ;oP
5. My default userpic is an MRI scan of my head because it's damn cool and not everyone has one of those.

[Photography] More recognition
4 Dec 2005 07:37 pmI posted the Fairy Lights photo from the Christmas Babe shoot with
cryx on a German photography forum where a lot of pros and semi-pros hang out and post and got some nice compliments there, too. Minor critique points were the cropping (too much space at top and bottom) and
cryx's watch(!).
Dragonmeet photos
4 Dec 2005 04:59 pmGah, what a lazy day. I got nothing done, except the photos and a load of laundry. As I was so shattered from the week before, I just hung around and watched TV and DVDs.
I need to do some serious dishwashing tomorrow, the rest can wait until next weekend which will be free except for a quick birthday drink with
razornet.
Good thing that con snapshots don't require much thinking apart from resizing so here are the photos from Dragonmeet, including the two freeforms I played in.
(fotopic still hasn't created thumbnails but the big photos are there)

Call of Cthulhu DVD
4 Dec 2005 12:11 pmThe film is fantastic. I love old style horror films and pulps and this one is spot on. The cheap sets and ropey effects don't deter at all from the enjoyment because at that time, the effects were ropey, too.
It's also very true to the source and the Cthulhu stop-motion model is hilarious.
They even included "faults" and specks of debris in the film. The making of documentary on the DVD is interesting, too, both from the technical side and other bits like the outtakes and acting samples. You never hear the voices so they just improvised with some hilarious results.
I don't know who else is selling it over here but you could get in touch with
angusabranson as he's got still some stock left, I think.
