[Gaming] Dragonmeet
1 Dec 2007 11:03 pmwas good indeed.
Met many of the usual suspects, played HEX (a jolly short scenario where an intrepid Royal Navy expedition gets lost in their submergible and finds an island(?) full of flying lizardsNazi Death Bats, T-Rexes, giant apes, secret poisonous caves behind waterfalls, savage savages, heroic deeds and incredulous stunts and everything else you'd expect in a pulp story), a short LotR themed Heroscape game (escape from the Mines of Moria), then a game of Qin - The Warring States (an adventure in ancient China, involving stolen swords, revenging daughters and hairy demons plus plenty of daring martial arts and wire fu stunts. It's a nice theatrical system with a quick - and quite deadly - resolution system, there seems to be much lush background and plenty of character ideas and the book is beautiful with one major flaw: no index, which is really inconvenient if you don't know the book and just want to look up a skill or power), found out that I'm in the playtesting credits of Victoriana 2nd Edition (thanks,
corone!), chatted to various people, bought some stuff regularly and spent a small fortune (well, a three-figure sum) at the Charity auction. Every year I swear not to do it again and every year I do but it's just too tempting and all the money goes towards a good cause (this year over £1,800 in total, topping last year's record of 1,600+).
Oh, and congratulations to
angusabranson and Cubicle 7 for scoring the Dr Who licence!
Getting home involved lots of waiting for the slow Central line so I only got the 21:52 to Cambridge. At least I was early and managed to get a seat and was home by 22:15.
A few photos tomorrow. Hopefully, most of them will be usable. There's either a problem with the hotshoe on the D70 or the SB-600 which meant I had to go half-manual. :o(
