I need a costume idea

for my new Tremere who I've just started writing the background for.
Concept: Victorian parapsychologist (house de-haunter, fairy collector, occult reseracher etc.). Stuffy, brooding and dark type, does his job for research purposes, not to help afflicted people.

I'll need a cane (of course) and lots of black.
I'm willing to shell out some money for it but within reason.

Any suggestions/ideas of what and where to get it?

erm, that was actually Bruce Springsteen in "Does this bus stop at 52nd street?" with the line
