- Two tube derailments in 48 hours. This scares me. I don't use the tube often but it happened at times when I might be using at and at a station I'm often at.

The pope beatifies Mother Teresa. Now, I'm not a practising Christian, let alone a Catholic but if one person deserves sainthood, it's her. I think what matters most is that she didn't care who the people she helped were or what religion they followed. And this was reciprocated after her death when she received a state burial which is very unusual for a Christian.

Yeah I know.
I guess it's the helpnessness when you're sitting in a public transport vehicle. If you're driving a car (which is the most dangerous mode of transport by far) you have some control, at least psychologically. Still doesn't prevent idiots causing accidents.

You'd think London Undeground would be taking extra care since the problem with central line and more recently, the picadilly line...

Saw a program on risk that my take home message was that the more you can control the risk, the greater risk you are prepared to take.

And in fact increasing the safety of risky areas simply increases the perceived safety which in turn increases the risks people are prepared to take because they feel safe.
