It looks like Guillermo del Toro's At the Mountains of Madness will be happening after all. With James Cameron producing. Let's just hope he keeps his fingers out.

That's excellent news, but I could live without it being made in 3D.

Well, bits of it need to be underwater. Parts of the history of the Elder Things. Oooh, I'm looking forward to seeing that stuff on the big screen! :)

I can see it, but I find it distracting. It's a gimmick that constantly reminds me I'm watching a film, so it stops me from being fully immersed in ths story.

That's interesting because 3D is supposed to make it more immersing but I would feel the same way.
3D won't be more than a gimmick until photorealistic holographic imaging can be achieved and even then the integration of the audience will be an issue.
