Dude, the greengage is a kind of plum more synonymous with Cambridge than any other.

That might be but many "simple" things like names of plants etc. are still missing from my vocabulary if they aren't part of my everyday life.

But greengages should be part of everyones everyday life. At least during the brief period they're in season :)
