Yesterday evening, I met up with [livejournal.com profile] belaroo and [livejournal.com profile] tobykenobi to see A Scanner Darkly at the Arts. My brain is still hurting, but more from the visual effects of the chamaeleon suits than the content.
As Dick adaptions go, this one is probably closest to the source as it's very trippy and a bit incoherent, too so not necessarily something to watch on sleep dep.
Curiously, I didn't mind Keanu Reeves' shoddy acting because he played someone who was not quite with it and didn't know (or care) what he was doing, i.e. just like Reeves' characters usually come across although they shouldn't.
Definitely one to watch.

Because my brain was still too confused too go to sleep, I worked on some more photos, this time on the ones I had taken of the RAF Tuddenham site where the airsoft event was held:

[livejournal.com profile] snapesbabe's post reminded me that Freddie Mercury would have been 60 today. I don't think I have to explain to anyone here who he was or what he meant to the world of rock music so I'm just going to share an anecdote from my student years:

On the Saturday after Freddie died, I was at my favourite Classic Rock/Metal club in Nuremberg ([livejournal.com profile] madmoses: it was the Groovy in Katharinengasse). It was about midnight and the club was packed and in full swing, when "The Show Must Go On" came on. Now, Queen wasn't usually played there, we had the harder stuff but the effect this had was enormous:
The whole dancefloor stopped dancing, the people just standing there listening to the music and at the tables and all around the club everything pretty much stopped. If it hadn't been for the music (and the sticky floor), you would have heard a pin drop. There was a huge amount of applause when the song had finished and then the clubbing continued.

That was one of the most powerful moments in my life.

Burger King recalls 'sacrilegious' desserts

This is getting out of hand. What's next? Catholics demanding the shape of donuts be changed because they look like halos?

The answer seems to be 121

Careful, there might be dodgy/NSFW banners on the site. Sorry about that, I didn't see any when I looked at the page...

Just one of the quotes from [livejournal.com profile] belak_krin's superb one-off game of Dead of Night at the Bun Shop.
Very silly and very fun. Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] belak_krin for running it and to [livejournal.com profile] akonken (fearless reporter), [livejournal.com profile] jholloway (conspiracy theorist), [livejournal.com profile] rirekon (shoe fetishist) and [livejournal.com profile] twentypence (dimwit) for adding to the fun. :o)
There were fish monsters, carnies, evil mad cultists, mad dogs (and Survival Bones), crazy stunts, bad special effects and everything else a B-Movie Horror RPG needs.
