Were they specially bought though? If they are all the same size rather than gradually increasing I can see you running into some early problems.

Not specially bought, no, though I did steal some of rjw1's enormous socks for the later stages, and I tried to arrange them approximately by size. I'm not sure socks are actually sold in very granular sizes, are they?

I think mostly where I went wrong was taking too long over it, so my feet had time to feel squeezed and unhappy.
