Missed the train I wanted to get because of traffic/parking problems so when I got there the first band was already on. Didn't miss much, though.

Ran into and chatted briefly to [livejournal.com profile] trauma_pet outside the venue and then [livejournal.com profile] zenmeisterin, [livejournal.com profile] civi and [livejournal.com profile] blankinfinity inside. Next up were [livejournal.com profile] thepussykat and [livejournal.com profile] jonny_eol and finally [livejournal.com profile] faerierhona in a wheelchair. Good to see you again!

Faetal and Deathboy were next and they both played cool sets (hadn't seen Faetal before and liked them) but the sound was godawful.
As I had skipped lunch and had seen Katscan last year, I went out in search for food and found a small Indian place called Spice Spice not far from the venue (in a side street that seemed to consist mainly of music shops - instruments and sheet music). I had lamb in a mild but fantastically aromatic sauce with almonds, with some prawns to start. Very nice but overall a bit too pricey for the amount.

Came back to see the last few tracks of Inertia's set. Still not bad, cool and bouncy. Then came Sheep on Drugs, and boy were they bad. I can't believe this was actually one of the good gigs, according to [livejournal.com profile] zenmeisterin. Idiot on vocals and why did the girl have to strip??? Considering they were replacing P•A•L, I wasn't impressed.

And then, Rico. I had heard various people rave about them and they were really good indeed. By that time, the sound had picked up, too (them actually having had a proper soundcheck). Superb stuff. Strong metal/ish with keyboard/synth/backing track and a good show, too. Highly recommended.
Randomly spotted [livejournal.com profile] corone, too.

This Morn' Omina kept the crowd dancing, too but had a rather short set. It's amazing how a knob-twiddler and a live percussinist can create a good atmosphere without vocals. They played a nice mix of tracks, from the Immutable Sphere to the recent EP. Although he's not playing a live instrument as such, keeping all those layers of sound, rhythmn and samples in sync is certainly a difficult task, especially as he was controlling both his sequencer/mixer and the laptop at the same time (last year he had a woman doing the laptop - backing track, I assume). Top stuff.

I left after that because I didn't fancy Mesh much and wanted to catch a reasonable train. Was in by half eleven, had a shower and a late dinner because I was still feeling peckish. Caught up on email and LJ and now bed.

Work tomorrow. Bleh.

Is on at the Arts Picturehouse this week.
Anyone fancy joining me tonight? (film starts at 8:30, I'll be there from 8 or so to make sure I get a ticket). Films are usually not on for long at the Arts and tonight is the only time I can make it.
