*groans a bit*
6 Feb 2005 03:43 pmDidn't get anything done due to being knackered and apathetic, so no Dippadoom™ at the party, sorry about that.
Made it to
autumn_storm's a bit later than intended but at least I wasn't last to arrive. There was lovely finger food and lovely people, too.
A very nice and relaxed party, spend mostly chatting, eating, drinking, watching Tripping the Rift and later a really bad Italian horror film called Black Magic Rites on the Horror Channel (Wow, it's got a 4.6 on imdb, it really doesn't deserve that...).
Photocraphic evidence of the party will follow soon.
After spending a restful night in a real bed (Thank you,
autumn_storm!), I managed to get to Huntingdon in time for the Tai Chi Intensive. 60 people had found their way there to be put through their paces. Two sets to start of with (I stepped out when it reached the stage I had learned up to), some explanations on stance and posture, dozens and dozens of dan-yus, tor-yus and another foundation exercise, then about half an hour worth of continuous Go Back to Ward Off Monkeys, finished off by another complete set, three hours in total with a 20 minute tea-break.
Despite being the only real beginner there (I was the only one who didn't know the complete set) and being mostly horribly outclassed in terms of proficiency (gah, I still have FAR to go), I didn't do too badly and the atmosphere was really friendly and non-competitive.
I'm definitely doing the next one when it comes along (I think they're about quarterly) and I might go to the General Workshop (weekend-long thing in April).
Against all odds, I managed to win a bottle of wine in the raffle (proceeds to Tsunami appeal) so that was a nice extra.
Got home via Tesco, chatted with mum on phone (still snow at home, they're probably going on a skiing holiday next week, if the snowstorms in the Alps calm down a bit) and downloaded photos.
A bit of laundry, loads of washing up, cooking and an early night is in order.
Busy week ahead: Thursday is Octaine and I need to sort various other things as well, Pub on Tuesday, Tai Chi on Wednesday, party at
akonken's on Friday, UA at the same place on Saturday. Some time I need to stat my V:TR character as well and need to prepare and pack for the big holiday. Gah, I don't want to go to work in the next three weeks, so I can accomplish it all...
