I only switched to the digital box end of last year and because most of what I want to see is either repeated or watchable/downloadable on one of the on demand players, I haven't needed to record anything.
The analogue box had a timer you could set in advance but the digital one doesn't seem to have one. How do you program it so you can record something that's on a few days ahead (the TV Guide only contains programmes about 20 hours ahead)?
Don't tell me to get a V+ box, the extra expense wouldn't be worth it.
Cheers

I didn't think you could record without a V+ box?

You can connect a VCR (or whateverR you have) to the SCART socket and record as a program is shown or as long as it's in the TV guide, you can set a reminder.

I don't think you can ... I think you have to pick off the programme guide, and on the non V+ box that's only good through to 6am tomorrow (V+ extends that to either a week or two weeks, can't remember now!) ... it was one of my big disappointments with going from analog to digital, that we lost functionality.

I am very happy with the V+ box, and for me it was worth the extra money. YMM(AIFD)V

OK, thanks. At least I'm not missing something obvious.

I've never tried it, but isn't that part of the reminder functionality?

I should have emphasised "for a few days". The reminder works for the same day/evening but the TV Guide only has content not quite 24 hours ahead, so no good if I'm going to be away for a few days.

Can't you see the tv guide by pressing the home button on the remote. Thats how I get to the weekly guide to set v+ recordings but maybe you don't get that option on normal digital boxes

I do get the TV Guide but it has programmes til the next day so I assume that's only a feature on the V+ box.

Do you mean the bottom of the screen tv guide which even on the v+ box only goes for 24 hours or the full screen multiple channels at once tv guide?

edit I get to this by pressing the home key rather than the guide key on the remote
