Just reading the synopsis, it's clear that we have a stereotyped idea of the Victorians - rather cosy and patriotic. They were much more complex than we normally imagine.

No, I was referring to a line in the synopsis:

Readers of science fiction and fantasy will be surprised to find here the roots of genres thought to be strictly contemporary

Maybe that's a different point to what you expected, it's just what occured to me when I saw the link. What point did I miss then?
