It's when I see photos like this one (or most of the others on that community) when I realise that I'm barely scratching the surface in my photography...

That is a truly gorgeous shot indeed...

Don't feel too bad though, everyone starts out somewhere! The way I look at it is, these people have been doing it for years and don't need to think about it as much as us just starting out. Also, look at the location, I don't know anywhere around here that could be quite so dramatic. Plus, I work, I can't be getting up before sunrise to go and sit on location waiting for the perfect light!

I can do well enough for my experience, and I'll only get better. The same is true for your good self. :)

But wow, that is quite possibly the best photo I've seen in months. I haven't liked one that much since my friend (and unnoficial mentor *grin*) [livejournal.com profile] dylan took and posted this. (that is a reduced size one, it looks so much better in full size, the detail is astounding, but that version isn't online anymore unfortunately)

No, I'm not feeling bad. I think that I've come a long way in the last year and, as you say, can only get better. My personality (lack of patience) will get in the way of some of it but I'm definitely learning as I go along.

Most of the people in that community are either pro photographers or at least students who've learned to do it properly so I'm not that concerned.

Another minor thing is equipment. With such a camera and some nice pro film you can reach results that are tricky to reproduce with digital but I'm quite certain that if you had handed me that camera at that moment, I wouldn't have produced that result.

Cor. That looks like the electron pictures Jon takes, but of big things.
