What's all this whinging about the cold? It wasn't even freezing last night.

Now, in my hometown it's currently -15 degrees C and there were some areas in Bavaria that reached below -30 last night. That's cold.

Well, I'm not from your hometown, and I'm not from Bavaria, so I'm not overly interested in what temperature they are at. All I know is *I* am from here, and last night/this morning *I* was fecking cold. :P

And FYI, in some areas it most certainly was below freezing lazt night and this morning.

55 degree difference within 1 meeting!

Poland varies between -25 & -30 while South African location is currently +25....

ZA guy was accused of trying to make the Poles jelous!

You're sounding dangerously like a Yorkshireman.

"Eeee back in t'Barvaria we 'ad snow up t' roof, 5 degrees below zero? Pah. Luxury."

I'm not even going to try a german/yorkshire crossover... oh I can't resist.

"Ven ve ver back inf Barvaria das snow was muchen deeper, Zwei degrees? Dasen luxury."

Oh dear. I apologise absolutely and profusely, I will buy you a drink on Tuesday.

We Brits don't handle the cold very well. At least I know I don't. I'm so cold that I've got the heating on full and can still feel the chill.

Its cold!!!!

I don't think the Brits are used to weather at all. It seems to settle on this grey mug most of the year, somewhere between 5 and 20'C, rain with light winds. Anything outside that range provokes complaint!

Sounds about right to me. :)

well my excuse for feeling cold is we were missing 2 windows downstairs and have no central heating downstairs at the moment.

but easily remidied by wearing an extra layer.

That's a very good reason!

remind me to post something similar when you whinge about how hot it is at 21C!

I only whinge about heat, not cold and heat like other people. ;oP

It's still different, though. You can wear more/better clothes/hats/scarves/gloves against the cold but you can't do more than take off everything when it's hot.

well, I like hot AND cold. I just don't like it when it's grey and dark all day long - I need daylight, not constant watering

And you CAN deal with heat better - wear pale colours, use cooling body sprays, drink warm drinks instead of cold (counter-intuitive but correct) and so on

also where natural fibres. I always feel cooler if I am atleast wearing a layer of cotton or similar compared to nothing as it can help defuse the heat.

*nods* I shoul dhave said that - cotton, linen and silk

Modern microfibre fabrics (usually polyamide with lycra/elasthane) are actually better at diffusing heat and, more importantly, moisture. Cotton just gets soaked and nasty but microfibre breathes and allows the moisture to evaporate which creates a cooling effect as well.

I do all that, though.

I think the problem over here is that the temperature seems to change from day to day despite the seasons. I think if it stayed cold until spring or hot until Autumn, there wouldn't be a problem. Unless it's like that everywhere else as well!

Greetings from Bavaria, where it is indeed exceedingly cold.
But, hey, at least there is a chance of snow. When did it last snow properly in Southern Britain?

If your definition of "properly" is the same as mine, not that I can remember. :o)
Where are you?

I'm from the other end (Selb, Oberfranken, near the Czech border, the closest city is Hof). :o)

Hope you don't mind that I've added you. I can do with a few more Germans, I feel a bit lonely. ;o)

8-D Don't mind at all. After snagging the link to "Mothers against noise" from your LJ (oh, yes, perhaps I should credit) and seeing what wonderful pictures you take (already looking forward to seeing the results of that shoot with [livejournal.com profile] sea_cucumber ;-), it is in my interest anyway to keep an eye on your ramblings.

She's very tricky to get hold of so I'm hoping it'll work out in February. :o)
