Well, it's not far - at all - from where I work, and I can't even log onto my work server at the moment. I'm wondering how badly affected my office has been, since I'm supposed to be working there tomorrow.

They're evacuating the whole area, closing schools and businesses etc. so you might want to check with someone before you travel tomorrow. Lots of roads will be closed, too, so even getting there might be a bit tricky.

I'm in central London. It shook the house and woke people in the flat below me, but I slept right through it, probably because I didn't get to bed until 2 AM or so. Until they saw the news they were apparently worried that the noise had been me falling downstairs or something.

This house gets a lot of vibration at the best of times - we're next to a railway and a busy road - so it must have been quite a powerful shock to wake them.

I had no idea it'd happened till I logged on to LJ. At 6am we were tucked up in bed fast asleep, having gone to bed (at the game in Shropshire) only about 2 & 1/2 hours before. I'll go watch some news in a bit.

I don't think it was heard over here in Worcestershire, but my mate in Stevenage had a right panic about it. He had just got up to go to work and was stiill in that half-asleep zone.
