Back to being serious

There will be three or so more in this series but I need to wait for approval of those.
Next up: Photos of bits in Manchester (rather than beautiful women in Manchester).
I've really become more selective and critical of my own work. There will be fewer final photos than in any other sets I've done so far.

I wish I could sell this location for good money, the light is perfect (same location as the previous one in the same outfit just against the wall by that gate).

I have to agree! The blue of the sign plays/repeats really well against the collar, which brings a sense of limited pallette (sp?). The shadow on the left breaks through the sign's geometric shape to lead the eye up to the figure. Compositionally it's superb! Crazy cyber hair frames the face well too :D

Thank you!
I seem to intuitively find these things without actually knowing why.
I only just noticed that the shadow actually shows the outline of the face...

That's the joy of composition for you :p There are stacks of rules for repeating shapes, percentage of subject to frame space, leading lines, 'golden sections' and so on, all to allow you disect composing a piece of work. You can follow every single one of these laws and the result may look like a complete pile of cr*p :D

IMHO composition is part intuition and part unconcious experience.
