You can't stop the signal

Got out of work in time and to the cinema where after a quick exchange of text messages met up with
cryx and
emilydongray.
Erm, yeah, Serenity. I won't say much until the general release, just two non-spoilers.
I liked the new-look, more intricate Serenity but I really missed the organic, acoustic music of the TV series.
Something else: I don't think it'll do well at the box office, sadly. They set the scene enough to get the plot (i.e. why the Alliance are after River) but there are quite a few things that don't quite make sense if you don't know the characters and their backgrounds well. Two people actually left the cinema about half-way through muttering darkly. Oh, and it was at a small screen which was only about a quarter full...
On our way out, I lost sight of the girls but met up again and then I gave them lifts to home and the station.

Sure, with a little bit of investigation we pretty much knew for certain it was going to be Serenity but I know from comments from others in the cinema they didn't have a clue what the film was they were about to see. The group in front of me when the board came up saying Serenity said 'oh, I think this is a sci-fi one'.
Sci-fi isn't in everyone's tastes so I'm not 100% surprised you had a couple of people leave the screening. There was a couple of girls who left the one we were at about 20 minutes in to it.
