karohemdToo much alcohol in too short a time made my head hurt. I still got up at 10, had some breakfast in the lobby, then headed over to the Nocker Science expo which was a bit small but still quite good. Bosch was clearly missing there... ;o)
Had some very nice lunch (Sauteed Catalina Sandabs, whatever those were, some kind of seawater fish), then went over to the BOD talk. Was quite interesting to hear what they had to say. The plans to go really international and away from the US sound good, if they make it (see below).
The Closing Ceremony had the awards for storytellers, coordinators, and members of the year, both for the US and international. I think the only non-US member receiving an award was Rhona O'Sullivan as International Member of the Year, which prompted a great applause. Next year, we'll hope for some more UK winners, especially for the International Awards.
I then had to leave to catch my shuttle to LAX, which also went OK. Check-in was easy as well. Too bad there weren't enough shops in that building so I couldn't buy what I needed (Smirnoff lemon, Mountain Dew and Fireballs). Flight was a bit rough, especially during dinner but I manged to not spill my drink all over the place. Watched Tomb Raider and Along Came a Spider and read more Harry Potter.
Arrival in Heathrow on time, being extremely knackered as I couldn't sleep properly.
Only had to wait 40 minutes for the bus to Cambridge but then the horror began. After excessive floods on Sunday, parts of the M11 were closed so it was stop-and-go on the M25 and the escape route up the A1(M) and A10. After three hours, we arrived in Stansted at 6:05. There were loads of people with connection flight who might have missed them. I hope they didn't. The rest of the trip to Cambridge was OK but there's still loads of water in Cambridge, everything around the river is flooded.
Got home at 7:30, had some dinner and instead of going to bed, hung around on IRC until 1. Argh.
