Diary of an ICC Virgin - Saturday
23 Oct 2001 05:22 pmHad breakfast at the Daily Grill. Most certainly the fluffiest scrambled eggs I've ever had, the bacon was a bit dry, though. Real freshly squeezed OJ and coffee which was better than the one before.
Met KTbear and JenK and chatted a bit. Gave the Nikki the chocolate I had brought and she literally melted. Was fun to watch ;o)
Then, the Mage game. For a new non-Vamp venue, it was huge, I guess almost 100 players. Again, cool costumes and some of the Etherites had great props. My Mage was the only one from the UK there which was a bit disappointing. The game went along nicely, mostly interacting, selecting a councillor and things like that. There were some very good characters, although a bit too many with huge Arete ratings (at least 5 or so with 5 and about 10 to 15 with 4, at least those I've seen in action). I don't know if this was all high MC cheese or NPCs. But then again, I thought that the idea was to make the councillors PCs (at least the SoE one is one, that much I know) but Sphere levels of 5 sounds too high for me for a venue that has been in play for six months. Could just be US cheese, though.
The Mage game finished early enough so I could got to the IRC meet. Unfortunately, there weren't as many people there as I had liked but good to finally be able to put some faces to names and nicks. Nash had brought RDA CDs and flogged them for eight bucks.
Then C/A in the evening again. The Malk meeting was interrupted by the plot that had started the night before (voices in heads etc.) but we managed to elect a Clan Head (Mr. Law) who later received 42 status to play with.
Then the downer of the evening: The Malk performance we had planned in detail for the Elder salon fell through, as the Elder Salon had vanished down a big green cheesy plot hole. I had been looking forward to that so much, IC and OOC. Oh well, no fault on Euan's part, all the STs'.
Then, the Conclave. The Justicars nattering about justice and things. Magestratum is one scary Motherf*****, very well played, with scary makeup and costume. There were a couple of executions and new appointmens of Archons.
Then, the Clans were called to speak. The Assamites stood and walked forward, swearing allegiance to the Cam and Justicar Mathias accepted them as probationary members!!
The next revelation (of which rumours were flying around before) was the Gangrel who left the Camarilla, with Magestratum's blessing.
A bit boring but OK, and the Humanity test after the executions was a bit OTT if you ask me, but I don't care, others might.
Afterwards, went round to do some mime things we had planned during the Elder meet but nobody got wound up by it, so Alucard is still alive...
Afterwards, Succubus Club and CarnEvil.
CarnEvil was quite funny, especially the "Pie the high MCer" booth, as I managed to point out Dave Wade *grin*.
Succubus Club sucked music wise, too much dancy, thumpy, techno-crap, not enough gothic rock (which I thought it would be). First, I couldn't get to the bar because the guy at the door wanted ID and I had to go up to my room to get my passport, and then, even worse, the bar shut at 1:30 and I lost out on alcohol again...
A bit frustrated, I went on my way to my room. The elevator was full of people invited me to a party, so I got my alcohol in the end. Went back to get pixie sticks, chocolate and sherbert. I tried to persuade the US cammies to try snorting sherbert but they all chickened out. Shanon just licked a line off the table, which was quite funny. Everybody adored my chocolate, though. I need to pack a case next year, I guess.
Met Angela and some other peeps from Texas who invited me to a tour of Dallas next year. Muchly appreciated, that and I'm looking forward to it already. Great conversation with those people and I felt very welcome.
Had some great booze: Smirnoff Lemon Twist. Very cool stuff, very citrusy, even with OJ. Robin would love it. Met Kwei-Cee, also a very cool man. Somebody insisted he had met me at a con in the US before, but that couldn't be as this ICC was my first stay in the US.
I don't know who the stripper was, but she was quite cute ;o)
So many faces I can't remember the name of.
Was a very fun way of ending the day.

Re: lick
Date: 23/10/01 05:53 pm (UTC)Then again, that's prolly for the best. A bit too tempting.
And I'm glad to hear that a UK player liked the Mage game. :)
Re: lick
Date: 24/10/01 09:31 am (UTC)And yes, Chris, I did enjoy the Mage game, as I mainly stayed away from plot and had fun with the rest of the Etherites or sitting in a corner, and actually playing through using my foci and taking time, which I rarely saw done otherwise, I must say...
Re: lick
Hmm, that gives me ideas... ;o)
I had hoped you guys had a little more courage and actually tried to snort it. It's great, it gives you an instant sugar rush.
I remember this party in Cambridge (about half Cammies, half mundanes) with about 10 people sitting around the living room table, white powdery residue under their noses, sniffing, with a slightly removed expression on their faces... ;o)
