The "Snake" will remain the most physically difficult move for me, probably also because of my anxiety to not twist my knees any more than I have to. I actually didn't feel any pain or even discomfort but I'm still a bit apprehensive. Sam gave me some tips which I need to work on but I guess my body structure needs to adopt more first, which means a lot more practice.

Right, for those interested, more details on upcoming Tai Chi events in Cambridge:

Monday, 29th of August (Bank Holiday): Public practice/demonstration session, Parker's Piece, 4pm-6pm

Saturday, 10th of September: Tai Chi Awareness day, New Square (the green bit between Grafton Centre and bus station), 11am - 4pm. Demonstrations, info stalls, opportunity to meet and chat to members of the TTCS, opportunity to sign up for beginners classes starting late September, etc. More details soon.

New beginners' classes in Cambridge:

Wednesday evenings, starting 21st of September
7:30pm - 9:30pm
Fulbourn Community Centre, Haggis Gap, Fulbourn
(Instructor: Roger)

Thursday evenings, starting 22nd of September

Is that Snake Creeps Down?

if so, yes, it's a bitch. Especially when you've had invasive surgery earlier in the year - however, it's interesing to see how one improves over time.

Yes. Having my feet at 135 degrees and not bending over when going down and turning is not something I'm used to.

Oh, I'm sure I'll improve. Considering I could barely turn my hips/spine a year ago, it's going to be possible one day. There are still various moves I can't do properly (even at our skill level) but this one is the only one I'm a bit scared to do.

Will you be posting some details nearer the time as well? I'm off to Berlin today, back towards end of month and would be interested in open days, demos, etc.

Bear in mind that the Chinese are brought up squatting, kneeling and sitting cross legged, unlike Westerners with chairs. So moves like Snake are less of a challenge.

Try practicing holding the back of a chair for balance.
