King Fahd of Saudi Arabia
2 Aug 2005 04:02 pmwas buried today in an unmarked grave without big ceremonies or glamour because their faith prohibits any kind of idolisation. Respect, especially considering his status and wealth.
He was old and frail and expected to die very soon. He died, his successor (who had been running things for years, anyway) took the throne and life goes on.
The Catholic Church could learn a lot from that.
It also sends out a fantastic message to the world where currently a lot of hate is targeted at Muslims because of the actions of a tiny minority.

Date: 2/8/05 09:27 pm (UTC)He funded Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war and turned a blind eye towards the gassing of iranians etc. He next to adopted Bin Laden as a "prince" as all his sons were playboys and wouldn't go and fight the infidel which in the first case was the soviets hence he helped fund the Mujahadeen, then Bin laden's campaigns in the arabian gulf etc..
Sent out a plea to the US to come and protect his country from saddam in 1990 when iraq invaded Kuwait bankrolling the US campaign to a tune of millions more than he had the iraqi forces in the previous war with iran (which was 50 odd million or billion or some other silly money figure) and due to his inviting the US to come fight his wars for him against fellow arabs essentially started the al-quada struggle against the west etc...
Has been an absolute cunt to his own people who have hardly any decent freedoms and could hardly be called democratic erm.. its a big list of him being a bit nasty really.
