"President Bush has said the US will not agree to a Kyoto-style deal on climate change as it will damage the US economy."

What a shit attitude. I'm sure the billions of dollars currently being poured into the war could negate that effect.

That man makes me sick! As does his whole administration. Words can not express how appalled I am at the attitude of the American corporations and government with respect to climate change and the environment.

plus climate change will damage their economy like a mother**** with all the floods, heat, freezes and the impacts about agriculture, living conditions, damage from increased tropical storms/hurricanes, insurance costs etc

fool.

I'm surprised really that more nations don't have the same attitude. While to many the effects on the environment are more important, it is true that the Kyoto-accords would affect a nations economy negatively and thats important right now to many of them.

A few more years and Bush won't have a home state any more - it'll be hit by so many hurricanes and floods that there'll be nothing left of the place. And fixing that will be a LOT more expensive than carbon emission control.

Well whaddya know, a short-sighted American who has little or no clue about the needs of the world beyond his own borders... there's something you don't see every day.

Some information

Hello

I understand Bush's point, since there is more to this than appears, firstly he wants India and China to sign up as well.

Also he has allocated Six billion dollars for Hydrogen Fuel Cell research, so he at least is trying.

Other points I agree with.

I do belive that him and a significant number of his advisers are share holders in major oil companies, thus:

reduced oil consumption = less profits = smaller dividends = them making less money.

and the kyoto agreement would result in less petrol therefore oil consumption.

However it is good that he is willing to do something constructive even if it may be too little too late.

I can understand him wanting India and China to join but if he takes the Kyoto agreement seriously he shoul lead by example.
