This is the best shot of the red light ones. There's still too much light on the singer's face but at least you can make out his features, if a bit harshly. If it had been decently lit, this would be a fantastic shot of the whole band... (except for the guitarist who chose to stand next to the stage and out of the light most of the time)


barbcure with full flash, perspective kneeshooter style. ;o) In hindsight, I should have stopped down the flash which might have resulted in a better compromise between boring flash and red light.


Another OK one, mainly chosen because of the posture.

Woo! I've got my own style!

I tend to set my flash down to -2EV or more so it's really just a touch - then try really hard in PS to make it less obvious.

*grins* If I hadn't seen odd angles to capture as much as possible in your photos I wouldn't have thought of trying it.

*nods* For some reason, I didn't think of it.
Also, this was the only reasonable shot as there was too much fog in the other flash photos.
A decent flashgun is on next month's shopping list so I can bounce off walls or the ceiling which should improve things as well. Unfortunately, my old Metz with a Nikon hotshoe I had for my F301 won't talk to the D70, not even if I put both on manual.

You won't go wrong with an SB-800 - I bought two! Tho' since your D70 can do "commander mode" I guess an SB-600 would work as well.

The SB-800 is a bit out of my budget but I'm looking at the SB-600 as the difference in specs doesn't quite justify the difference in price for me currently.

Will do. I should have them all up in a proper album by Monday, anyway. I did take over a hundred photos, completely filling my 1GB card. I need a second one asap as I probably won't shoot anything but RAW now.
