I'm glad that I'm not the only one thinking like I do. Read the reader's comments on BBC's Have Your Say. That's an overwhelming majority.

"Major world religion in ignoring opinions of self-declared atheists shocker."

In some ways I'm serious, though. Pretty much every negative opinion I've heard about the Pope has been prefaced with the words "I'm not a Catholic, but..."
If people don't agree with the Popes teachings and feel that their own philospophy can offer greater hope, succour and happiness to the poor and disposessed of the world, then why aren't they out there preaching it?
Oh, because whining on internet notice boards require no actual effort, that's why.
It's dead easy to say "Oh, gosh isn't it awful. I disagree blah blah blah." But actually doing something? Well, that's another matter entirely.

Who knows, maybe some of these misguided folk believe that expressing their thoughts on the BBC web site does count in some small way as "preaching it".

It would certainly make the world a rather quieter place, if only people who "actually did something" were allowed to have or express opinions about things.

Not sure it would really be better though?

I'm not expecting every member of the 'whining on the internet' community to do something. It'd be nice if a majority did. Or even a sizable minority.
Hell, I'd settle for a percentage in double digits.
