Dead Can Dance

scylla's review from last night's show. Great voice with a fantastic range, great songs but let down a little bit by two much synth. Still, a very good gig and well performed. I was especially impressed with the quality of the sound mix, which didn't turn muddy even at the very back.
A good range of tracks, with Saltarello being the only really bouncy one.
I had caught the train in time, eaten a M&S sushi, made good time and joined the queue which only went around one corner (about where the stage door is). After about five minutes,
the_mendicant and
robinbloke turned up. We chatted a bit and then hid under Robin's umbrella because it started to rain and hail. NOt for long, fortunately. Then the crowd started moving and we got in.
Gig lasted pretty much exactly two hours, so there was plenty of time to catch the tube, grab a Cornish pasty and settle down on the almost nonstop (only stops Letchworth and Royston) train home. Read three stories in Steve Earles Doghouse Roses book, which I'm very impressed with.
