Please correct me if i'm wrong on any of these!
Name a CD you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
Oh, so many! ;o) Considering that I have
sublevel3 in my list, I'll pick a different genre and say "Fiddlers Green" (their first self-titled album)
Name a book you own that no-one else on your friends list does:
Damn you,
whiskeylover, I wanted to mention Karl May but then I remembered you, you probably have the ??? books as well... Erm, let me get back on that one.
Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no-one else on your friends list does:
Hm, tricky as I don't have that many. The Captain Future tape. Can't remember the episode title now.
Name a place that you have visited that no-one else on your friends list has:
Another easy one: Schönwald, Germany, where my grandparents used to live.
OK,
the_lady_lily has been there and thinking about it, I could imagine
whiskeylover knowing it as well as his mother's hometown isn't too far away, so how about Obertauern, a small but very fine ski resort in the Austrian Alps?

Date: 12/10/04 01:11 pm (UTC)My mother's family are liberally spread around Selb, Marktleuthen and Marktredwitz, so we know Wunsiedel quite well, although I've not been back down there really since my grandmother moved up to Munich to be nearer to my younger aunt.

Date: 12/10/04 02:03 pm (UTC)What's your mother's (maiden) name?
How small is the world???
Re: *picks up jaw from floor*
Date: 12/10/04 04:06 pm (UTC)My grandfather's name was Wunderlich (with umlaut on the u). What were your parents names & how long have they been living there? They might almost have been at school roughly the same time as my mother, she beginning and they ending... eeeek!
Re: *picks up jaw from floor*
Date: 12/10/04 04:44 pm (UTC)Wünderlich doesn't ring any bells, I'm afraid. Wunderlich would be quite a common name in the area.
My mother's maiden name is Schramm, they lived in Schönwald (Marienstr.) and she went to primary school there and to middle school in Rehau. She was born in '47.
My dad's name is Beck, he was born in '39 and has lived in Selb (Dürrlohweg, the private dirt road from the school centre towards the ice rink) for all his life, the house was built in 1913.
I sadly know very little about my great-grandparents of both sides as a lot of things were lost in and during WWII.
Re: *picks up jaw from floor*
Date: 17/10/04 05:38 pm (UTC)She's going to speak to her mother and see if any of this rings any bells!
I remember the Dürrlohweg - I walked down that when we used to go skating there. My grandfather was the treasurer of the minigolf complex, we think, when he passed on, and did refereeing for the football club. Oh, I loved the mini-golf!

Date: 18/10/04 06:00 pm (UTC)Ah, the joys of a small town. :o)
I'm going to speak to my mum tomorrow most likely.

Fiddler's Green rings a bell- if you are slightly more specific, I might be able to prove you wrong on that
