As I'm thinking of going to the special Finsternis night on the 22nd of August, I was wondering the following:

If I were to fly to Edinburgh on the 20th, coming back on the 23rd, would there be anyone able to provide crash for little me (a couch or even a bit of floor would be plenty) for three nights? This would be an ideal opportunity to have a look around the city again and maybe go to some of the (Fringe) festival events.

I'm currently looking at flights but so far it seems a bit expensive (about 80 quid) but if I could get hold of friendly acommodation, that would be doable.

Many thanks in advance!

£80? It would be a lot cheaper to train up there.

Actually, no

Tourist AND festival season and just a month's time.
Train would be a 5 hour journey one way and at least one change from Cambridge, and a workable connection would be 86 quid as I don't have a railcard.

Hrm. If you wnet through King's X then I'm sure it'd be cheaper than that, though the tourist season thing and if oyu're travelling on a friday would kick it.

Probably - that's not the August Bank Holiday weekend, so that's safe I think. I can just give you a key and you can come and go as you please.

You could even bring those CDs ;)

Yes, it's the weekend before the Bank Holiday one.
That would be great! Hey, we could cook together! :o)
What is public transport like around your place?

Pretty good - there's two buses both at 10 minute intervals during the day, and half hourly in the evenings. It's about £1.50 for an all day ticket IIRC, £2 for a nightbus and about £9 - £10 for a taxi from town. Bus takes between 25 - 35 minutes to get to Princes Street.

Having said that, are you sure it's still on? The club has finished I think, so unless this is a specially advertised one off...

Sharon (darkstars.org.uk) IIRC should know....

It's a one-off, [livejournal.com profile] sublevel3 just posted the ad to [livejournal.com profile] uk_goth_music today.
And yes, I have a fully working PC now so I can do those CDs. This coming weekend most likely.
