Strawberry Fair
5 Jun 2004 10:48 pmI went into town first to see if Fopp had some suitable bargains for expanding my Funk, Soul and Jazz collection for my set on Thursday. As always, I bought much more than intended. Evil place. ;o(
Was good in terms of atmosphere and weather.
I was quite disappointed with the music this year. Nothing really gripped me, except Attila the Stockbroker doing a solo set with two guests. Obviously, I might have missed something at one stage while I was at another but previously, I didn't know where to go. If you looked through the programme, there weren't really many (or any) well known local acts. One sign was that I enjoyed the canned music at the dance and multimedia stage (the latter someone on a PC running a mixing software playing psy-trancey stuff).
Food was really expensive as well but I guess they just pass on their stall fees which are the main income for the Fair.
The Octaine Pimp Ninja team distributed ca. 4,000 flyers, if
dj_slingshot was actually there, that is. Nobody saw him about. If we get 10 people in from those, we've achieved our objective. I think the credit card format was a good idea, as many people looked at them and put them in breast or back pockets. A6 flyers don't fit in pockets that easily.
I've taken a number of pics which will be online tomorrow. Now I'm just going to put my hurting feet up, read some more Griffith and watch the last Captain Future DVD.
