The older versions of flight sim will run on pretty well any Pentium box, and that's what I think we've got here. Looking at this collection of hardware, my guess is that they're mostly old P266 and P400 machines and oldish monitors, so they may have been cast-offs rescued from being scrapped, or purchased dirt cheap, or just all the PCs from an IT lab put together to try out the idea. Getting them to work together is just a networking problem, I think, so the main cost is presumably that plus the power for the monitors. Things like the clutter of mice make me think that it was done on the cheap, I would have expected to see more realistic controls if it was a serious attempt to build a real simulator.
