Update from Germany
8 May 2004 11:39 amWe arrived on time, safe and sound on Thursday night, the hotel's nice, not luxurious but good quality with a comfy bed and a nice strong shower. Breakfast is basic German, which is fine by me.
On Friday we walked about town in rain, up to the castle where we visited the museum and the armoury and took the tour, had typical local food for lunch (just as I had aniticipated,
robinbloke absolutely adored the Schäufele, a lump of pork on the bone, with crackling, real gravy, potato dumplings and everything) back past some more sightseeing spots and then a visit to the Bad Place for CDs.
Back to the hotel for some rest, then a short wander to an Italian cafe for light dinner, back to the hotel to change, off to an Irish pub to meet a mate who then didn't turn up.
Ran into an acquaintance there who recognized me but I didn't recognize her (people who met me once will always remember me for some strange reason, I can't remember faces very well) so we chatted to her for a bit.
As Olli didn't turn up, we made our way to the Loop on our own. Nice smallish club with two areas (dancefloor with standing/seating around and bar with tables and chairs). Cool selection of music from Darkwave to Harsh Electro.
And as I had mentioned before, the people not really fitting the music. Not a single even remotely Cyber, everybody either trad(ish) or plain jeans and tshirt black.
Still had fun but didn't dance a lot as it was quite hot and stuffy at times and I was knackered from walking around town all day.
Caught the convenient night bus back to the station, picked up a yummy pizza (at 4am) and collapsed in our rooms.
Now we've had breakfast and located an internet cafe to update and catch up.
Next is picking up some snacks for the road, underground trip to the airport to pick up hire car and then off into the countryside for some landscape sightseeing. To Bamberg in the evening and then on to Zapfendorf for Elektroindustrie/Ruhe vor dem Sturm (Industrial/Electro/Noise and Neofolk/Dark Ambient). Back sometime late at night.
Full update when I'm home Sunday evening.
