Norah Jones - Feels Like Home (4/5)
Going away a bit from the jazzy style of the first album, this feels more like a lazy summer evening somewhere in the Soutern states of the US.
Some of the tracks remind me a lot of Edie Brickell (anyone remember her?), especially What Am I To You.
Wonderful, laid back, lyrical lounge music.
Melissa Etheridge - Lucky (4/5)
Erm, wow! It's like the last ten years never happened. She has found back to her roots of powerful, rocky tracks, from full-on give-it-all steamers to quiet, melancholy ballads, both dominated by Melissa's powerful voice and 12 string guitar.
If only Kevin McCormick was still playing bass, providing the necessary groove and the drum machine was replaced with real drums on the few tracks it's been used. Fortunately, most of the tracks are entirely "natural".
Let's hope for a European tour this year, I'd be so going, although I wonder how some of the classic tracks will sound without Kevin McCormick...
