*peeks up from bed*
7 Feb 2004 02:41 pmGood trip to Brum last night. Were driving for over four hours in total worth the effort for four hours of clubbing? Yes.
To start from the beginning:
While on my way into town, I got a text from
poetman that he was in position, ten minutes before the agreed time. *blinks* He can't be a goth. ;oP
Despite the sometimes really hard rain, we made good time til we were near Brum, chatting about all kinds of things. Then the new road layout around Brum confused us and we promptly used the wrong M6. What do you do, if you have to signs pointing to the M6? You follow the wrong one which meant we also had to pay toll. :o( We realised it soon enough and didn't go too far off. Thanks to
poetman's navigation skills, we were actually in front of the entrance of the car park but weren't sure so I called
toxicpixie and he confirmed.
By the time we had parked and got ready, he came down the ramp to greet us and then take us to a metalhead pub (Coster's?) which reminded me a lot of the Groovy (sadly long gone) in Nuremberg with the exception that there wasn't a dancefloor. Met some of
toxicpixie's mates, had a drink and then went on to The Gallows were they played AOR goodness. Bumped into
sogoth and friends and found out that
angelustenebris is as schizophrenic as me by liking both AOR and synth/electro stuff. ;o)
Headed around the corner to Edward's and went straight upstairs where it was still rather quiet. Took the opportunity to chat to
rotkopf a bit about things and the sad fact that there aren't enough (or any) clubs where good harsh electro and classic industrial are played.
Bumped into
borange as well. Good to see you're still alive, mate. :o)
Was a good night and had a good selection of the electronica kind, although I would have wished for some more harsh electro and less EBM. At least there were only two "crimes" and they played Rotersand. ;o) I couldn't believe my ears when they played bloody Starsign. At least it wasn't the last track and there was some really good stuff afterwards (including X-Fusion) so I got it out of my head again.
Said good-bye to people and drove off again. We probably took a longer route than necessary but the signposting didn't let us down and we found our way back onto the M6 and subsequently home. Dropped off
poetman in town and got home eventually at about 4:30.
Now I'm feeling strangely awake despite only six or seven hours of sleep.
Some photos are here.
