Silly proposal:
Take a long weekend in May to go clubbing in my old haunt Nuremberg and surroundings.
Could look like this:
- Thursday evening: Fly to Nuremberg, check in hotel/B&B (tbc, I need to have a look around)
- Friday day: Sightseeing in Nuremberg with yours truly as a guide, dinner somewhere nice and a short pub crawl in the evening.
- Friday night: Kinder der Nacht (goth club like Full Tilt with maybe a bit more trad)
- Saturday day: sleep, more sightseeing in town and further out, dinner somewhere.
- Saturday night: Elektroindustrie/Ruhe vor dem Sturm (Harsh electro/EBM/Industrial downstairs, Neo-Folk/Neo-Classical/Dark Ambient upstairs)
- Sunday afternoon: fly back to Stansted

Return flights for the second weekend in May would cost ca. 65 quid including fees and taxes. Accommodation remains to be seen. Reasonable B&B would probably be around 15-20 quid per person.
I'll sort out a hire car for Saturday as going to Top Act (where Elektroindustrie is) is difficult if not impossible by public transport.

[Added note]: Flights tend to become more expensive closer to the date, so decide quickly, let's say end of this month at the latest. For example, I looked at April, and it'd be almost double the price on the 2nd weekend.

Flight details:
Going there: Thursday, 6th of May (8:30pm)
Coming back: Sunday, 9th of May (4:30pm local time)
Book with Air Berlin from Stansted (STN) direct to Nuremberg (NUE).

Anyone interested?

Fantastic :)

I don't have anything planned for May (yet!) so if you let me know a weekend I can book and sort stuff out, well, when we get organised anyway ;)

My brother has visited Germany a number of times for work. Every time he's been there has been a beer festival of some type on (just random chance), so he has a view of Germans being really, really friendly.

There might be something on, not sure. I need to check.

Especially Franconians are a friendly lot, much friendlier than the people from Southern Bavaria. :oP

Bert and I could be interested.
Needless to say, we'll get there ourselves :)
Must talk to him first but it definitely sounds like a plan :)

Seriously tempted. Keep us posted please. Maybe it will link with WGT?

I've just seen Mera Luna and Summer Darkness are just one week apart in August.

And a fiend of mine went to the Giger museum in Switzerland. Trying not to let things get out of hand, but there seem to be numerous possibilities for Euro Goths. Maybe this is something that could be developed?

I was thinking earlier in the month. My problem is lack of leave days, so I probably won't do both. We'll sort out something. Well, if you're in Berlin by then (May), it'll only be a three hour drive to Nuremberg (roughly).

WGT is at the end of May, but the main reason for my plan is Elektroindustrie, which is on the 2nd Saturday, hence the date.

A fiend of yours? ;oP
Giger museum sounds cool and interesting...

Sounds tempting, but I'm in no financial position to commit at the moment. Should be OK in a couple of months though. When would you need to know by?

Rooms can booked on shorter notice but flights will get more expensive. As it's not high summer or Christmas, getting a seat on the plane shouldn't be a problem, just the prize will go up.

I picked May because it'll be nice but not hot yet and winter will definitely be over, so good for sightseeing.

I would be, but I'm long weekending the week after, so should probably behave.

Maybe another time though!

Hm, I'd imagine you might be interested in some other style of club, though. Apparently, there's a really good one but it's not my scene so I can't say for sure. ;o)
