Nice little film, nothing too fancy, OK effects, standard plot but with a definite WoD look/feel to it but the feel is where the similarities end.
- Werewolves aren't immortal in the WoD
- Selene cried real tears (not blood), breathed and whatnot
- OK, there were bloodlines but hardly in the WoD clan meaning
- In the WoD, Selene would never have been able to get Viktor out of torpor
- The word "embrace" wasn't mentioned once, instead they used "turn".
- Both species are capable of procreation and Viktor calls the possible result an abomination, not the embrace of a Lycan. "Abomination" is the only word that's used in both settings but it is a rather general term indicating something that shouldn't or musn't be.

Other than the feel, I can't find anything that's blatantly WoD (terminology, mechanics, whatever), I think WW will be on difficult grounds.

General comments:
- Matrix style guns which don't run out of ammo still annoy me. WTF was Selene shooting with? Looked like a normal handgun but with automatic fire and at least a 50 round clip...
- UV rounds? Riiiight
- Silver nitrate solution isn't silver!

However, I want that mansion as game venue! ;o)

silver nitrate point totally correct of course, I always think they are actually using mercury rounds "quick silver" afterall and it does have the right look.

Very pretty, but not exactly much cop.

The gun Selene was using initially is the Beretta 93r, which is capable of fully automatic fire *but* holds 17+1 rounds (IIRC).

You can get a very large (50+ rounds) clip, but it's about 18" long :)

It wasn't particulerly WoD~y in specifics, but as an overall look & feel, it was getting there. WW should have just accepted it, and the extra players it would likely garner them!

My main concern wasn't the full auto, it was the size of the mag in relation to how many rounds she let off. Oh well, artistic license and all that.

The lawsuit is also based on the original script.
There was nothing that hasn't been seen in Vamp or Woof films. They were talking about bloodlines but that's not a WoD exclusive term. There were three original vamps (Viktor, Marcus and the other one) from who all other vamps are descended. There was talk of houses, just like nobles would. Blood reviving "hibernating" vamps isn't new, either.
Other things in the lawsuit are ridiculous (use of modern weapons etc.).

I haven't read the short story which is mentioned in the lawsuit as well. That might be the only bit where real similarities occur.

Isn't there talk of bloodlines and stuff like that in Blade as well?

Exactly.
As mentioned before and elsewhere, there isn't really anything new in Underworld that wasn't already in other movies, one reason why most of the points WW are making are a bit pointless. Er, yes. ;o)

Yup, I quite agree on the ammo issue.

And for that matter on the lawsuit; damn.
