A cinema day
21 Sep 2003 06:41 pmFirst, Belleville Rendez-Vous, a beautiful, funny and f*cked up animated Frnch film without dialogue about a boy who's trained by his mum to compete in the Tour de France. When he's finally there, it all goes horribly wrong and the real adventure begins. Definitely not a kids' film, though, despite the 12A certificate.
- The visuals are just funny, all the exaggeration like the cyclists' leg muscles, the fat people in Belleville, the square mafiosi
- Poor Bruno, marked for life by a toy train running over his tail. The bit with him used as a spare wheel was just evil. ;o)
- a lot of the humour reminded me of other French films like Delicatessen and Amelie
- fishing for frogs with hand grenades!!!
