Went into town after work to get a bday present for a colleague. Despite it being 6 o'clock, it was still sweltering so on my way back I thought I cool down at the cinema.
T3 was on at a convenient time, so I watched it.
It's more a bit like Evil Dead 3, it takes the piss out of its prequels and is more of a comedy than a hardline action thriller (the 12A certificate supports this). Arnie has a lot less dialogue than in T2 but that fits, and the one-liners are great. Disregard the plot holes and it's great entertainment for a heat-addled brain.
Good SFX, the T101s in the dream sequence were very smoothly animated, some of the TX was good as well. Her nano-technology remote control was so blatantly ripped off the Borg, it was untrue, even down to the probe she inserted. The plot doesn't mention what time she came from, most have been years into the future from the T1K because not only could she morph into shapes, she created complex machines as well. It was a bit weird that she was both liquid and had an endosceleton...
I think the best reference to T2 was Dr Silberman (When you're in a traumatic situation, you can see things...impossible things...crazy things...insane things...things that will take years to get over... )
Despite the 12A rating, it was quite violent and even had a full-blown gore effect (the TX's hand coming through the cop's chest). I don't know, something's wrong in this country...
Don't ask why and it's a great movie.
Underworld looks good, though. The trailer doesn't reveal much about the plot so that might be bad but it'll be worth watching for the visuals alone. Very Crow with a bit of Matrix thrown in. Hey, a film with a chick in a leather catsuit and big boots can't be bad ;o) I'm going to look forward to that.
Update: The soundtrack doesn't look too shabby, either.

Date: 7/8/03 03:25 pm (UTC)Don't forget, the TX comes from a different timeline and war to the T1000. They changed the future in T2, so the war happened later.
