The White Wolf press release basically says they are going to release a number of books detailing Gehenna, The Apocalypse, The Ascension and one for the other venues will be released, ending the WoD as we know it (with the exception of Dark Ages) and then, in August 04 a new WoD will come.
While some of it sounds interesting, it all smacks of a "give us your money" scheme. First, one hardcover book for every core venue and then new core books for those...

However, I doubt Changeling will survive. The End means Eternal Winter after which nothing is left...

Now, what will happen in the Cam? Adopting canon has been very slow/reluctant in the past but now that WW have their say, I smell a reset. Which would be cool, I think and finally get rid of some old and crusted things. I certainly would have fun playing through it.

hmm I dunno you could see the whole thing in a number of ways
eg changeling it could be eternal winter but then thats not likely to cause the end in one cold snap so to speak you could have noble bands of lings fighting it out in ever shrinking numbers against the cold..
or you could have somekind of cyclical rebirth thing where it gradually becomes spring again and the thought of endless winter whilst being devastating to the changeling society etc ushers in a new era..

its rather like looking at the christian apocalypse and saying well are we at the start of the 1000 year reign of the antichrist or the coming of the kingdom of God.. which could of course have reprocushions in the vamp venues :-)

Well, whether changeling survives or not I would guess is going to be a business decisiona nd not a plot one. I don't think that any other venue is going to survive the apocalypse any more (Vampires all get eaten by their elders, garou finally get squacked by the wyrm as it pretty much turns up on our doorsteps, mages... god knows. I didn't know they had an end of the world in sight).

I assume the new WoD they are talking about will not be one set after the apocalypsey things but a new reality kind of thing. New characters new places. No idea if it is still goign to be vampires and whatever but I'm interested to find out.

As for the effects on Cam. It would be very fun to see the end of the world but it will be a hell of a job for the ST chain to make sure everybody is happy. And hell, those last national events will be absolutely stonking. :) I'm not entirely sure whether I think a reset would be good though or without the glue of momentum and history things might fall apart. Luckily its not my decision so I can bury my head. :)

I am so glad I'm not on UK General any more :)
So it would appear that Demon is nothing more than a shelf-space filler then.
The worst thing about it really is that they're going to cease publication of all the older titles once they put out these Apocalypse books. Whatever happened to "Following the Meta-plot is entirely up to the storyteller". Gonna be a bit difficult when all you can get without going on Ebay is whatever we're all left with.
Amusingly when the whole Ravnos meta-plot thing went off, a great many Ravnos players wondered what the Cam will do if WW decided to wipe out one of the major Clans - looks like we're going to find out doesn't it.

Good timing!

I've been saying for years (since 1999) that gehenna would be in 2004-5, on the simple basis that the 3rd edition product line would ahve pretty much run out by then and so they'd need to do ti to put out 4th edition and shift more product to keep the profit margins up.

Hurrah for me being right.

Yes, but do WW know this?
They finally have the chance to ditch it.
When was the last book published? Almost two years ago...
