I had this funky tin so I thought I would try my hand at some product photography.

Mystery Tin

The tin sits on a big sheet of black card. I cut open an old A5 jiffy bag to make a slit shaped snoot, stuck the SB900 inside (set to 1/4 power) and held it in my left hand pointed at the tin while I took the photo with the right hand. A very easy 5 minute setup and I'm very pleased with how it came out.

Interesting. Shame the seam is buckled: How's your Photoshop?

Bad for this kind of thing. Besides, why should I alter reality? For me, photography is showing reality in interesting ways, not changing things to adapt them to some people's idea of beauty or aesthetics.

As an exercise in "product photography".....

As a study it is a fine piece of work.

That's exactly the sort of photography I despise, like food photography with artificial or enhanced elements.
I could obviously have chosen a section without seam but I didn't want to give away the contents.

Thanks. I wanted to try and get the typical look and it was easier than I thought as soon as I figured out how to hold the light.
