This time tomorrow, I will be at the sports stadium in Crystal Palace, eagerly waiting for the gates to be opened for the Bruce Springsteen concert.
Finally, I'll be able to see the whole E Street Band live. I couldn't get to the '85 gig in Munich and Miami Steve van Zandt wasn't on the Tunnel of Love tour in '88 and I'm not talking about the crap studio band in '93.
I know roughly what I can expect, I have some footage which was shown on TV and I've seen the setlists so far. Obviously the current album will feature a lot but there will also be some really old songs from Born to Run and Darkness.
I have a pitch ticket so I'm aiming to be there nice and early so I can get a spot in front of one of the barriers, ideally directly in front of the mixer desk. First, it's where the best sound is and secondly, you can lean against the barrier.
Must remember to pack snacks, little packs of OJ and dextrose to keep me alive. Four hours waiting plus not quite three hours concert (he's getting old, the '88 gig was three and a half hours, still very good value for 47 quid).
I just happened to catch a program on the high earners of the music business this week and Springsteen was on place 8, I think, with something like 28 million dollars last year. Now unlike all the others in the list, this was only from album and tour ticket sales, not any sideline businesses like sponsorships or fashion deals. Respect.

Right, need to get back to tidying and things.

Nils Lofgren is one of my (very few) guitar heroes. We saw him, live and all on his own at the Mean Fiddler.

Enjoy. The man is impeccable.

I know.
Haven't seen him on his own yet but he was on the '88 tour.
