Costs:
reasonable: 20 or so for petrol, 60 for hotel including breakfast and maybe another 20 for food and drink plus 15 for the event. Not bad at all when you're used to prices in the South.

Stoke:
Strange, I would have expected more china/ceramics/pottery in my face, it is the pottery capital of the UK, after all. Of course, there are loads of factories and related museums and such but that's it. In my hometown, we have the largest coffeepot of the world as you enter on the main road, the Welcome sign is in tiles, three fountains made from china, an alleyway paved in china, the town hall is full of display cases and has a set of chimes made from china, and that's just the most obvious bits.

The National:
Main positive point: Seeing loads of cool people I hadn't seen in a while and socialising OOC.
The games: Don't have a local Sabbat game, so can't say anything there. NPCing Mage was good fun and by the looks of it, it was the game with the most action.
Main C/A game was boring. There wasn't any plot to avoid. I don't like in your face/invasive plot but some indication that something is going on would be useful. Apparently, Elders and Princes had stuff to do but those kind of people usually always have. As they were busy, there weren't many people to interact with. Although having loads of rooms is good (for running things like CoP and stuff that's happening off site), I think this time it was too much spread out, you couldn't find anyone.
It's something that's diffcult to do, though. Still, the ST team is an experienced one and should be able to find some way. Maybe more NPCs to spread stuff to those people who need it or will pass it on is the answer.
There should have been more time between events to get changed, have time out to go and have food etc.
The food choice wasn't really great, at least it wasn't too expensive. Still, no food on Friday and it closed at 6 on Saturday. I can accept not being allowed to bring in food when there is food on offer on site but not when it's not. Hey, even the big hotels ICC is held at don't complain when people order takeout.

The AGM:
Far too big a room for the few who were there, it was difficult to understand what people were saying, especially when they were up on the balcony. :o(
A microphone would be nice and a properly layed out room. I guess the Jubilee hall would have worked better (and would have been closer to the bar).

The hotel:
Best thing: the huge bathtub! Reasonably close to the venue but even five minutes is too long if it's chucking down with rain.
Thankfully, they didn't charge for breakfast as it wouldn't have been worth any additional money. Best thing was the scrambled eggs if there were some.

In conclusion, I'd rather like to see a fully residential event (like ICC or last year's) as it makes it easier to get changed, to pick up/drop stuff you need, etc.
There has to be more plot/opportunity to interact or it gets boring. Move away from people hogging plot or make sure they pass it on.

Still, was fun to see a number of cool people again.

Elders and Plot

I'm sitting here next to the player of an Elder. He assures me that they didn't have any plot either (at least nothing they didn't make up themselves).

And, I think, they did their best to spread it around.

Thanks for the clarification

It's what I heard from others.
*shrug*
So, more plot needed in total.

I think there needed to be a lot more low level plot for people. Of the NPCs / plot there WAS, it was designed to go in at the low level. Happy Harry did his job nicely, but was only one thing. Of the others unfortunately, one chap was completely ignored when trying to interact with people, another plot was dealt with in a manner so efficient it left me slightly surprised, and the others I haven't heard about, but I suspect they may not even have been noticed.

We need more active interaction. I don't want that going on through the OotJ - whilst I would have liked to have made them a little more accessible - always on duty multiple Bliss action O:-) - I don't want the place crawling with visible archons and the Justicar...

Lots more little plots for folk to get involved with. A lot more. I think the volume required may have caught us a little by surprise... Something to note for next year.

Venue wise I agree with you about the size - it was too damn big and it swallowed us; need something a little more compact & bijou next year.
I've decided on the criteria under which I'll be involved next year, and so we'll see what Kath says.

I'm sure there was talk (way back in the mists of time) of there being STs assigned to certain groups of players, who had at least an inkling of who the characters were and how to get them hooked in, maybe through colour teams...
