[livejournal.com profile] lilac_jellybean and [livejournal.com profile] belak_krin got married yesterday and I and various other old friends from Cambs had been invited to the reception at Anstey Hall in Trumpington.
[livejournal.com profile] robinbloke kindly gave me a lift and when we arrived, the DJ was just finishing setting up his rig. We were directed upstairs and the first familiar face we ran into was [livejournal.com profile] atomic_fae who we hadn't seen in quite a while (sorry for making you run downstairs twice ;o). Upstairs we congratulated the bride (who looked very happy and beautiful), marveled at the tasteful chandeliers and also found the groom who looked equally happy and handsome.
Then everybody filed downstairs and the party began. The first dance was wonderful, the second dance was some rather puzzling (at least to the non-Geordies in attendance) circle dance that was started by the bride and her father, with more and more family members (and the groom) joining in.
So, it was a good evening sending off a lovely couple into their life together (and honeymoon in Lapland!) that involved catching up with old friends I hadn't seen in a while. Other than that, the highlight of the evening was the pinball machine. I made a highscore - I had no idea I still had it in me after 25 years. Shame the display was broken so I couldn't enter my name properly and didn't know my final score.

My favourite shot of the night: The groom looking smug while the bride dances in the background.
