By the way... no idea HOW he did it, but the Russian at the bottom of the post says that non of the small fish in the pictures were harmed.
Amazing pictures though. Absolutely amazing. Something about the lighting triggered a 'hmm this is not directly photographed' in me, so I dredged up my old Russian and worked out what it it said. Pretty much 100% sure that's what it says. (I do more CG art than photography as it's easier for me to fiddle with dials on the pc than it is to hold the camera up nowadays)
That's what Google translate suggested, too. Probably plopped them back into the water immediately after.

Nothing about the process, though. If this group is any indication, Russians seem to have a preference for over-stylised and high-key food photography so these fit right in.
