I'm listening to a Deep Purple live album from 1971 I downloaded from emusic this weekend and it just shows me that despite all the new music I've been listening to nothing quite compares to that style of music and the goosebumps it gives me.
I have a different live double album (but still Blackmore/Gillan era) on vinyl at home (and on tape somewhere in my car) on which the entire B side is Child In Time. I have to see if I can find this on CD.

I've got that one too!

:D
I had this on one time on my way back to Nuremberg crawling past one of the many roadworks at the time (they added another lane because our rural motorway had suddenly become one of the major routes from/to East Germany) and sang along to the bit in Highway Star where Gillan sings the guitar part. I had the window down and got very strange looks from the workers. ;o)
Blimey, I just realised that must have been about 20 years ago...

I have "Made in Japan", which imo pretty much covers the essential Deep Purple from the Blackmore / Gillan era. I used to have it on vinyl but now have it on CD.

Yes, that's "Made in Japan". Double album but with only seven songs. Child in Time is about twelve minutes but they manage to make Space Truckin last an entire side of one record!
