Finally managed to get out to the cinema again. Sherlock Holmes was already full (WTF?) so I watched Daybreakers instead which I also wanted to see.
It's 2019 and the majority of the world population consists of vampires (apparently, it was all started by one bat eight years previously but that's all there is in backstory) with supply of human blood running dangerously low to support the population properly. Sam Neill is the evil director of an evil corporation controlling the blood supply and farming the few remaining humans they can round up for blood.
Ethan Hawke is a hemotologist(sic) working for Neill trying to find an artificial blood substitute but obviously it all goes wrong and he ends up fighting with the human resistance (let by Willem Dafoe in complete contrast to his role in Antichrist who used to be a vampire but got better - ya rly) and randomly finding a solution in the process.

The vampire mechanics are a bit silly/stupid but the film is nicely paced with a few nice twists and turns so it's easy to suspend your disbelief. A good way to spend a bit over 90 minutes at the cinema.

Trailers:
The Wolfman: The looks/production values seem to be excellent as is the cast so this could be good. Let's hope they do the original proud.
The Book of Eli: This could be good as well with another excellent cast.
Edge of Darkness: Conspiracy flick. Probably not.
44 Inch Chest: English flick with Ray Winstone. Not quite sure what it is but it looks good.

Get the DVD of the original BBC series. I'm sure it can be LoveFilmed.

Thank you for the recommendation! Didn't know it's a remake of a BBC production.

I suspect the remake will be something of a travesty; much like the new Clash of the Titans.

I'm going nowhere near the new Clash of the Titans. The whole and only point of the original are Harryhausen's animatronics and without them it's just a rubbish film.

Can lend you the DVDs if you like? The original series is simply glorious.

Thank you but I have too much to watch already. I've added it to my Lovefilm queue, though.

Seconded - it's blinkin' brilliant. Suspect the remake will make me cry!

I saw the poster, and thought "Sam Neill, oh good!", so thanks for the reminder of the film title :)

Hm, every time I see the trailer for "The Wolfman", I feel less eager to watch it. Maybe I am wrong, though...

Trailers can be extremely misleading so I'm being careful.
