As watching old classics is all my mind is currently capable of, I'm watching the best TOS based film.

Despite my addled mind, I noticed something. Space Seed is a first season episode (I only watched it last week) and Chekov only came in in the second season, yet Khan recognises him. Someone didn't pay attention...

The Enterprise has a larger crew than are seen online (430 according to Memory Alpha). Chekhov is on the ship he's just not part of the bridge crew seen on screen in Season One.

Me: "At least in Doctor Who we recognise that the is no canon."

Julia: "Whereas in Star Trek there's cannons off the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow..."

Apparently, some argue that Chekov was on the Enterprise during Space Seed, just not a bridge officer.

I recall reading an interview with Ricardo Montalban at the time, possibly in Starlog magazine, and he said the producers had already realised this. Amongst the crew during filming a story was concocted that both Khan and Chekov had suffered "digestive upsets" during Space Seed, and Khan hated Chekov as the guy kept beating him to the bathroom :-)

Heh but surely, such a perfect human as Khan wouldn't even have to do such base and primitive things as going to the bathroom...
