Star Trek trailer
21 Nov 2008 07:30 pmI like this less and less. It looks far too shiny (how impractical is a polished floor on a spaceship?) and it seems to be filled with teenage angst. Spock glowers like Sylar, Kirk and Bones are babyfaces and Scotty... I hope that little quote isn't representative or I will lose my respect for Simon Pegg.
They have six months to turn it around, I haven't given up my hopes yet.
20 years on, it's obviously tricky making pre TOS era tech look lower tech than TNG tech because real tech has advanced so much since then so I guess to look SciFi, it has to be shiny. But if it's really set 300 years from now, it should have at least 3D, if not neural interfaces rather than simple touchscreens. Then again, in actually 300 years time, we will laugh at our visions from today, just like we laugh at the visions of space travel etc. from the early 20th century so it doesn't really matter.
Let's hope they come up with a good plot and well-played characters, then. If they manage that, I'll be fine.
