Been watching the DVD and all the extras are really good. Quite often, the deleted scenes aren't very exciting and it's quite clear why they were deleted but those are superb. The usual interviews etc. are nice as well, especially the bit about how Jamie Foxx started auditioning and working with Ray himself and ultimately receiving the master's blessing. Apart from the superb acting, the most impressive thing (and one of the most difficult by Foxx's own admission) is still that Foxx played the piano himself in all the shots.
The "Extended Edition" of the film is pants, though as unlike the LotR films, it's not a recut version of the film with the extended bits but the extra scenes are spliced in with very noticeable breaks and sometimes repetitions of footage. This could have been done a lot better.
It's still a must have DVD if you liked or missed the film. I got the 2 disc edition with an extra 4-track CD.
Bed now. Work tomorrow (bah!), nothing major going on this week except Synthetic Culture on Friday (with
killing_miranda playing).
