I called off the Midway City meet tonight because of the weather. The roads are all wet and while not quite icy yet, this will surely change over the course of the night and I really didn't fance going back home on ice, not because I wouldn't be able to cope but because of the morons out there who can't. I don't fancy someone who can't keep a distance and brake/drive gently rearending my car. Gandalf lives out in a village and it's probably worse there.
On my way home, Newmarket Road, Elizabeth Bridge and Milton Road were fine, Arbury Road was looking a bit dodgy already and so did Campkin, Hawkins Road had previous slush patches now turned to ice. Managed to get into my drive with no problems but watched two morons skidding around the corner. How stupid can you be? Take your foot off the accelerator slowly, and accelerate and disengage the clutch slowly and the only thing that will really stop you is real ice. Gently does it, just like good sex. It might take you a little longer to get there but everybody involved will be happier afterwards. ;o)
Just watching Anglia News and they just said the following: "how the arctic conditions have affected our region"
Huh? Arctic would mean at least -50 degrees C and several metres of snow. The snow here hardly covers the ground...
In other news, they arrested a bloke having an "imitation firearm" in his luggage at Stansted Airport today, stating that "possession of an imitation firearm at an airport is a more serious charge than simple possession". Right.
