Also shows the scale. My hometown and Cambridge are just over 700 miles and two rather large countries apart while on the other side both are just somewhere in the middle of the Southern Ocean with nothing at all for several hundred miles in each direction.

Wow, I was told as a child that we were on the opposite side of the globe from New Zealand. It turns out that that's Spain, and we are in fact opposite a whole load of sea. Fascinating.
