[TV] Defying Gravity
21 Oct 2009 10:40 pmOh dear.
For some reason, I expected this to be a bit of hard SciFi. Set 40odd years in the future, astronauts are off on a cruise around the solar system. Interesting premise, awful execution. It's utter tosh, a soap in space, complete with slowmo walk up to the rocket, sex in zero gravity, people being blown out of airlocks, others hearing voices. Star Trek technobabble makes more sense than their pseudo science. Bad bad bad and not in a good way. *cringe*
The Twitterverse pretty much agrees.

no subject
Date: 21/10/09 10:36 pm (UTC)As for the sex, it is brought up as a subject sometimes, but from what I've seen it's not really a dwelt on factor that's hyped up just for the sake of it. It's not like every episode continually has people getting it on. :D
Though I have to agree that it's definitely not hard sci-fi and like most shows of its kind on TV you have to try and gloss over the sciency/ engineering issues if you don't want to get a headache.
It's not the best show I have ever seen, but I have seen far, far worse and I'm willing to give this show the benefit of the doubt to see if it will improve. :)
